History as a subject of study was incorporated in the curriculum of Nalbari College since the days of its inception i.e. 1945. Honours Course was introduced in the degree level in 1969. Under the able guidance of renowned educationist and philanthropist late Prabhat Chandra Goswami, as its founder Head of the Department, the Department of History has been playing an active role in the academic upliftment of the college. The department is proud of alumni like Sri Chandra Ramchiyari, A.C.S., Md. Abdul Latif , ACS, and a host of College teachers. Dr. Kamal Nayan Patowary, the present Pricipal of this college is also an alumnus of this department.
